Today Verizon Wireless announced that it will soon offer the LG Vortex, its latest Android 2.2 Froyo smartphone.

The Vortex sports a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with the Swype virtual QWERTY keyboard pre-installed. It supports 3G Mobile HotSpot connectivity, which will allow it to share its 3G connection with other Wi-Fi enabled devices.

Users will be able to customize up to 7 different homescreens, one of Froyo’s features, and the phone also comes with pre-installed LG apps including My Status with Twitter, Facebook for LG. The phone is also capable of placing Skype calls over Verizon Wireless’ circuit switched network.

The Solstice II also supports Vlingo, a subscription-based voice command application that lets users make calls, compose text messages, search the web, and more using their voice.

The Solstice II has a 1,000mAh battery that’s rated for up to 5 hours of talk time, or 10.4 days of standby.

AT&T will launch the Solstice II for $29.99 with a new 2-year AT&T contract.

Today T-Mobile announced the Comet, a budget-friendly Android smartphone that will cost just $9.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and with a new T-Mobile contract.

The Comet runs Android 2.2 Froyo, has a 2.7-inch touchscreen display with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution.The Comet also offers a 3.2 megapixel camera, portable Wi-Fi and USB tethering support, and 801.11 b/g/n connectivity. The Comet will come with the Swype virtual keyboard pre-installed, too.

T-Mobile says the Comet will be available starting on November 3 in T-Mobile stores and online. It will launch in black.

Evergreen QWERTY phone from Samsung

Today Samsung announced the Evergreen, a messaging phone with an eco-friendly focus that it will launch on AT&T.

The Evergreen is built with 70 percent recycled post-consumer plastics, and is packaged in 80 percent recycled post-consumer paper.

The Evergreen offers a basic candybar form factor with an alphanumeric keypad and a slide-out four-row QWERTY keyboard. The Evergreen will launch for $29.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and with a new AT&T contract on November 7 2010.

For every Evergreen sold, Samsung will donate $1 (with a maximum of $100,000 donation) to Cell Phones for Soldiers.
